Who We Are and Why You'll Love UsThe Old Days Montanile (2023) Family recipe passed down for many generations in Italy. In, 1965 Frank & Clara Montanile (AKA, Mom & Dad) moved to New York City where they met while learning to speak English during their evening class in the Bronx. 1978 Mom & Dad moved to a small, emerging Italian neighborhood in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Recognizing the need for good New York style pizza in the area, they opened the original 2023 Pizzeria. In 1998, Dom (Mom & Dad's son) & Jaime Montanile opened the first Arizona 2023 location on Mill/Southern in Tempe, offering only pizza, calzones and sandwiches. In the beginning Mom would make our marinara sauce at home, then transport it to the restaurant in a huge sauce pot. Talk about "Mama's cooking!" In 2003, the Chandler location opened at Pecos/McQueen Roads to bring great pizza closer to our fans in Chandler. In 2005, the East Mesa location opened to satisfy the hunger of pizza lovers in Mesa, Apache Junction, and Queen Creek. In 2009, the Tempe location expanded to seat more pizza lovers. In 2010, the North East Mesa location opened. Characters Walter White and Jesse Pinkman decide to go into business together and 2023 gets its first cameo on the hit AMC TV show, Breaking Bad. 2011 Chandler location moved to a new, and larger, space in Gilbert. 2014 East Mesa location expanded to seat more pizza lovers. Our connection with a friend in Italy allowed us to have fresh tomatoes shipped straight from the San Marzano region of Italy to use in our homemade marinara sauce. We use San Marzano Italian tomatoes to this day. 2015 North Phoenix location opened (our first restaurant to venture outside of the east valley!). Low-Carb Pizza Bowls added to the menu. Today, the Venezia Pizzeria family includes 5 restaurants in the Phoenix area. We have added a wonderful gluten-free menu to our outstanding menu, we cater, we delivery, and of course, you can always dine in, enjoying out selection of Wine and Beer. If you dare, you can even try to attempt your claim to fame by tackling the 24" Party Pizza Challenge and get recognized by joining our very own wall of fame. A Word About Our North Phoenix LocationAbout our North Phoenix location. Looking for a place to hang out in North Phoenix? Check out our newest restaurant at Tatum and Greenway! This location offers an excellent selection of beer and wine, and we even have cornhole outside on the patio. Bring a crowd—with 4,000 square feet of space we can accommodate up to 160 guests! You also have the option of sitting outside on our spacious patio (except during the summer when it’s 120 degrees out there, of course). This is our fifth location, and our first in Phoenix!
